Something I've been wanting to do for a while is to start making video courses. I do a lot of workshops, teaching people ASP.NET Core 2, Docker, dev-ops and so on, but there's a limit to how many people I can reach with the in-person classes. So I'm thinking of creating online courses that you can do anywhere, any time, but hopefully still with whatever it is I do that people seem to like in my talks and workshops. A lot of the existing content I've seen is very dry and formal, and I can't really do that, so I'm hoping there's an audience for the same sort of thing done my way.

Anyway, it's taken a couple of tries, but I've finally got a pilot episode uploaded, and I'd love it if you could take a look and give me some feedback. This one's about running ASP.NET Core 2.0 applications in Docker, which is definitely something you should be doing. Even if you're a dentist.

If there's enough interest, I'll build some proper courses (with modules and exercises and everything) to teach the same stuff I've been teaching in my workshops, in the same style. We won't be building To Do lists or stock-control applications, put it that way.

I'll be making some more pilots over the coming weeks, so I've set up a mailing list you can sign up to with your email to get notified when new content gets published. That's one of the ways I'll be gauging interest, so please do sign up if you're interested. I promise I won't spam you or do anything evil with your data.

To be totally clear: this is something I'm hoping to turn into a business, which is going to involve money changing hands at some point. No idea exactly what that's going to look like; it could be selling individual courses or a subscription model or a combination of the two. Further down the line there'll probably be some market research stuff to work that out; if you've got any comments on that side of things now then I'd love to hear it.

For now, though, I'm just going to put some videos and stuff out there and see if you lovely people like it, OK?

P.S. I know, it's been a while since I blogged. What can I say? I've been very busy, what with speaking engagements and training courses and trying to keep up with all the changes to .NET Core and running and everything. It's difficult to find the time for everything, but I've got a few projects underway that I'm going to be sharing soon; this new idea for RendleLabs is just the first one.
